Verbio Nevada Biorefinery

The Verbio Nevada Biorefinery, located in Nevada, Iowa, USA, is the first industrial-scale integrated bioethanol and renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility in North America to utilize both corn and agricultural residues as feedstocks. The facility is wholly owned by Verbio North America Holdings Corporation.

RNG production at the site began in December 2021 with the completion of Phase I, providing an annual production capacity of 7 million ethanol gallon equivalents (EGE). Following the completion of Phase II in August 2024, the facility now operates as a fully integrated biorefinery capable of producing up to 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and 2.3 million MMBtu of renewable natural gas annually.

The RNG is produced from stillage, a co-product of ethanol production, maximizing resource efficiency and supporting a circular production model. This integrated process—unique to Verbio—utilizes advanced technologies developed and proven at the company’s facilities in Germany while also generating humus and organic fertilizers as valuable co-products.
