Verbio showcases green energy technology at Farm Progress Show 2024

Bioenergy on a next level: Verbio displays its renewable energy technology at North America`s largest outdoor farming event from August 27 - August 29 in Boone, Iowa.

Nevada/Boone, IA (August 27, 2024): Verbio is showcasing its technology and competencies in creating green energy and organic fertilizers at this year`s Farm Progress Show from August 27 – August 29 in Boone, Iowa. In particular, the company, which is a subsidiary of Europe`s leading biofuels and bioenergy producer Verbio SE, is demonstrating how to make renewable natural gas from ag residues to visitors at booth #VITE 8314.

The trade show is the largest outdoor farming event in North America with over 600 exhibitors and approximately 150,000 visitors every year. Attendees can learn about Verbio`s sustainable technology of converting corn stover to renewable natural gas (RNG). Additionally, the Verbio agronomy team is featuring the company`s stover harvest and grain buying processes, along with samples of its organic fertilizer products.

Climate friendly energy from ag residues and corn

Verbio just recently had announced the launch of ethanol production in addition to RNG production at its Nevada, Iowa, location. Operating as a full biorefinery, the plant has installed a total capacity to produce 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol per year and 2.3 million MMBtu of renewable natural gas (RNG). It is the first plant of its kind in North America.

“We are excited to further tell our story about our game changing technology for creating climate-friendly bioenergy from crop residues and corn,” states Greg Faith, Verbio Nevada plant President and General Manager. “The integration of RNG, bioethanol and plant-based fertilizer production is what makes the Verbio technology stand out within the American energy market. Exhibiting at Farm Progress, we aim to intensify our valuable collaborations with Iowa growers and expand our network.”

Benefits for agriculture businesses

As primary feedstock to produce RNG, the company procures up to 100,000 tons of unused corn stover locally. This mitigates the emission of greenhouse gases, resulting from the degradation of the ag residues on the fields. By harvesting these residues, growers in the area can actively contribute to protecting our environment while also gaining an additional stream of income. Attending growers at Farm Progress are able to sign up to contract acres with the Verbio team at the booth. “Working with us, Iowa growers can take their businesses to the next level with an innovative residue management solution that provides a greener path for agriculture and the environment at the same time,” says Greg Faith.

As part of displaying its biorefinery technology approach, Verbio is featuring four different fertilizer products of its Verbio CropCare line. These are co-products from complex RNG and ethanol production processes, where all raw materials are used efficiently, reducing CO2 emissions to its minimum. With the start of ethanol production at the Nevada plant this summer, Verbio is now offering two liquid fertilizers (ASL and NPK) for retail, as well as stover and ethanol humus products. The premium fertilizer products are soil amendments sold back to the grower to increase the soil organic matter and improve soil aeration and drainage. Samples can be viewed at the Verbio booth.
